Faculty positions at the JNU

The JNU has openings for various faculty positions at the level of Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant professor in the areas of specialization and desirable qualification & available in various centre/special centres & schools of the university.

1.PROFESSOR (Rs. 37,400 – 67,000 with Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 10,000)
An eminent scholar with a doctoral degree, published work of high quality, and actively engaged in research with 10 years of experience in post‑graduate teaching and/or research at the University/National Level institutions, including experience of guiding research at doctoral level; OR an outstanding scholar with established reputation, who has made significant contribution to knowledge. In exceptional cases, teachers with 15 years of under‑graduate teaching/research experience could also be considered. Candidates should have obtained at least 55% marks at the Master’s level. The minimum requirement of 55% shall not be insisted upon for the existing incumbents who are already in the University System. However, the requirement of 50% marks at the Master’s level shall be insisted upon only for those incumbents who may have entered the University system after 27.11.2001. For those entering from outside the University System, the minimum requirement of 55% shall be insisted upon.

2.ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR (Rs. 37,400 – 67,000 with Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 9,000)
Good academic record with a doctoral degree or equivalent published work. In addition to these,candidates who join from outside the University system should have at least 55% marks or an equivalent grade ‘B’ in the 7‑point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E & F at the Master’s level.The minimum requirement of 55% shall not be insisted upon for the existing incumbents who are already in the University System However, the requirement of 50% marks at the Master’s level shall be insisted upon only for those incumbents who may have entered the University system after 27.11.2001; five years of experience of teaching and/or research (excluding the period spent for obtaining the research degree) and has made some mark in the areas of scholarship as evidenced by quality of publications, contribution to educational innovation, designing of new courses and curricula.

3.ASSISTANT PROFESSOR (Rs. 15,600 – 39,100 with Academic Grade Pay of Rs. 6,000)
Good academic record and Master’s degree with at least 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST/PH candidates and for those Ph.D degree holders who have passed their Master’s degree prior to 19.09.1991) or an equivalent grade ‘B’ in the 7‑point scale with letter grades O, A, B, C, D, E & F at the Master’s level in the relevant subject from an Indian University or an equivalent degree from a foreign University. Besides fulfilling the said qualifications, NET shall remain a compulsory requirement for appointment as Assistant Professor for those with post‑graduate degree. However, the candidates having Ph.D. degree in the concerned subject are exempted from NET. NET shall not be required for Master’s Programmes in disciplines for which there is no NET.
